Stem Cell Therapy

Stem cell therapy is a form of regenerative medicine that utilizes stem cells to repair damaged tissue and to treat or even prevent disease. Stem cells are undifferentiated cells that do not yet have a function and can be developed into a specialized cell to repair or replace tissues.

At Reflexion Medical Rejuvenation in Surprise, AZ, we use these miracle cells to help patients suffering from a wide number of conditions.

Plasma Rich Platelets (PRP) therapy is another regenerative medicine we use for conditions such as sports injuries, joint problems, and bone pain. This treatment uses the patient’s own blood and its various components to heal, regenerate cells, and repair tissues.

How Stem Cell Therapy Works

Stem cells are developed in a lab and implanted into the patient’s affected area. The stem cells found in bone marrow, in particular, can be grown into organ-like cells. For example, if someone has heart disease, the bone marrow stem cells will be injected into the heart muscle to repair the dead muscle tissues. Essentially, stem cell therapy can repair tissues that are too damaged to heal on their own. Stem cells can stimulate the formation of cartilage, tendon, ligaments, bone and fibrous connective tissue in the body and when injected into an injury, it can boost the body’s natural ability to heal itself!

Stem Cell Therapy Applications

Stem cells are useful in regenerative therapies for a wide variety of injuries and conditions, including:

  • Neurological degeneration (Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s)
  • Strokes
  • Diabetes
  • Heart attacks

They can also be developed into tissue to replace organs, produce insulin, and help the body to heal itself.

Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) is referred to as Autologous (using a patient’s own blood) is achieved through a process of extracting out one’s own blood where a higher level of platelets are concentrated. Blood is mostly comprised of liquid substance called Plasma, along with Red blood cells and White blood cells and Platelets. Platelets are commonly associated with blood clotting, but also contain numerous bioactive proteins called “growth factors”, which are extremely important in the healing process of injuries, regeneration of cells and repair of tissues.

PRP is plasma with a higher concentration (5-10 times greater) of platelets that what is seen in blood, and have immense sophistication to quicken the body’s inherent ability to heal itself. They consist of alpha-granules that contain a variety of coagulation and growth factors, cytokines, chemokines, adhesion proteins needed to repair tissue, and dense granules with ADP, calcium and serotonin, which are necessary for platelet aggregation. By activating these platelets, PRP releases a cascade of natural healing processes known as PRP therapy that can be concentrated on target areas to foster healing specific to those areas.

Conditions treated with PRP therapy include (two column bullet point format):

  • Chronic Tendon injuries
  • Acute Ligament and Muscle injuries
  • Post-surgical tissue repair
  • Arthritis of joints
  • Bone fractures

How PRP Treatment Works

PRP treatment involves drawing the blood of a patient and using the growth factors from the plasma, red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets to help promote new tissue growth. PRP is either injected into the injured area or stitched into torn tissues.

  • Skin and collagen regeneration
  • Hair growth
  • Epicondylitis
  • Tendonitis
  • Chronic wounds

PRP Treatment Applications

PRP is an effective treatment for injuries of the tendons, muscles, ligaments, joints, and bones. It’s also a great way to promote wound healing, skin and collagen regeneration, and hair growth. If you’re active or aging and want to be able to move comfortably again, PRP may be the right treatment for you.

We also offer the following Regenerative Medicine Treatments

Alpha 2 macroglobulin (A2M) Injection Therapy

Alpha 2 macroglobulin is a naturally occurring protein found in your blood plasma already. While it is naturally occurring and protective of the human body, it is difficult for it to travel to joint or disc space because of its large size and complex nature. A2M injection therapy, uses proven scientific techniques and natural healing methods to successfully treat osteoarthritis and other injuries at its source. It is used to prevent cartilage breakdown in patients, promote tissue growth and support the overall restoration of an affected joint.

Know for a F.A.C.T.

Start with a simple test to determine if you are a good candidate for the APIC-A2MTM Therapy. This FREE diagnostic test, known as F.A.C.T., looks for a unique biomarker in your joint or disc space called, Fibronectin-Aggrecan Complex (FAC). A positive amount of FAC indicates the presence of destructive enzymes that are associated with painful inflammation. These are the same enzymes APIC-A2M baits and traps to help reduce pain and inflammation.

The discovery and advancement of Exosomes is changing regenerative medicine. Exosomes are tiny cell secretions full of proteins, growth factors and more that target injured cells in your body. Think of them as delivery trucks hauling restorative information to damaged cells who then absorb the components and begin a physical transformation.

CelaPure is a non-steroidal injection consisting of 100% pure Amniotic Fluid. This natural fluid is rich in growth factors, anti-inflammatory and has a fast treatment time. Amniotic Fluid injections encourage repair and rejuvenation of soft tissue, intra-articular, cartilage, menisci and join injuries. Although CelapureTM Amniotic Fluid injections are obtained from an elective, full-term cesarean section delivery. All donors provide consent and are screened per Federal Food & Drug (FDA) and American Association of Tissue Banks (AATB) guidelines.

Also known as Platelet-Rich Fibrin Matrix (PRFM), is the next generation of Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy. It utilizes your own blood platelets to release growth factors and stimulate regeneration. Similar to PRP, LibertyMTXTM starts with a basic blood draw and uses a controlled separation process to remove almost all contaminants, leaving a pure platelet solution. PRFM takes this pure solution to the next level by forming a gel-like substance that protects and preserves platelets for injection. This surgery alternative has been shown to repair damaged cartilage, cells and tissue, potentially restoring pre-injury function.

Marrow CellutionTM

Your body consists of a framework of bones, cartilage, ligaments and tendons working in unison. Injury or illness impacting your framework can impact your body’s overall performance.

Research has shown that a concentrated injection of stems derived from your bone marrow can reduce pain over time and accelerate the reparative process. Marrow CellutionTM obtains your bone marrow, typically from your hip, and aspirates it through a minimally-invasive in-office procedure. Bone Marrow Aspirate (BMA) elements are rich in growth factors, proteins and stem cells. The BMA is reinjected into the damaged area of tissue to promote healing and improved function. Since BMA comes from you, there is no risk of rejection.

Platelet-Rich Fibrin Matrix (PRFM)

Like traditional PRP treatments, PRFM is performed by extracting platelet-rich plasma from your own natural blood cells. The PRFM process then takes additional steps to further filter out unnecessary red blood cell (RBC) and white blood cell (WBC) contamination for the ideal solution. These refined platelets then injected to a site of injury to initiate and promote healing. By concentrating platelets at the site of injury, Dr. Ball has the potential to enhance the body’s natural capacity for healing.

Allograft Stem Cell Therapy

Amniotic Allograft (Stem cell) therapy is the use of stem cells to treat or prevent chronic ailments or diseases. An allograft is tissue that is surgically transplanted from one person to another after it has been processed. This is done through an injection of purified amniotic fluid that contains a healing matrix of cytokines, growth factors, and proteins that help rejuvenate and heal damaged tissue. Amniotic tissue contains a large number of stem cells, growth factors, and other essential to help stimulate tissue growth, reduce pain and inflammation, and restore the injured area back to a healthy state.
